Maiden voyage from the boatyard to the slip.
Over a 2 1/2 year period I served as project manager of a 31 foot ourtrigger sailboat also known as a Pacific Proa. My responsibilities included outsourcing, supervision, design modifications and fabrication.
The project included working with Charley and Johnathan Harris (the boat designer) to fullfill Charley's vision. I managed relationships with outside vendors, securing contracts for rigging, sails, mast, hardware, trampoline and other services. I designed unique components including companion way, bench and sled hardware, rudder-latch, rudder limiter and mast step.
The mandate for fabrication included building at 110% quality while maintaining a clean studio environment. This required the design and fabrication of a unique 40 x 15 x 9 foot spray/dust booth. Three contract craftsmen were under my direct supervision during fabrication including epoxy-fiberglass and carbon-fiber layup, vacuum bag lamination and linear polyurethane painting.
